Generitype of Sorbus Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 158. 1929).

Current name: Sorbus domestica L. View in CoL ( Rosaceae ).

Note: Sorbus aucuparia was treated as the generitype by Rehder ( Bibliogr. Cult. Trees Shrubs: 252. 1949), but this choice is pre-dated by that of Green ( Prop. Brit. Bot.: 158. 1929), who chose S. domestica L.

Knees (in Plantsman 7: 65-67. 1985) discussed the original elements for the name but did not designate a type.
