Remarks: The subspecies Katamenes dimidiatus montanus (Nurse) has been previously recorded from Iran.
Katamenes flavigularis (Blüthgen)
Material examined: Ghazvin: 8km. N.E. Ziārān, 10–16.VII.1977 (deposited in NMPC); Tehrān: Damāvand: 2002, leg. Hosseini (determined as Katamenes arbustorum (Panzer)) . Remarks: This is a new record for Iran.
Katamenes sichelii (de Saussure)
Material examined: Markazi: Sāveh: 995m., 20.V.2002, leg. Sobhāni.
Remarks: Three subspecies have been previously recorded from Iran: Katamenes sichelii baerii (Radoszkowski) , K. sichelii fulvus (Eversmann) and K. sichelii tauriae (Giordani Soika) .
Material examined: Tehrān: Karaj-Kondor, 2002, leg. Hosseini; Tehran, 2002, leg. Hosseini.
Remarks: The subspecies Katamenes tauricus viratus (Giordani Soika, 1949) has been previously recorded from Iran, as K. sesquicinctus viratus (see van der Vecht and Fischer, 1972). However, the name Vespa sesquicincta Lichtenstein, 1796 , was suppressed in 1995 in Opinion 1820 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. Eumenes tauricus de Saussure is the next available synonym.
One other species has been previously recorded from Iran but was not collected: Katamenes niger (Brullé) .
