Material examined. PG: 1 male ( ZUTC 6717 ), Abu-Musa I., associated with gobies, Coll. R. Naderloo, 3 Oct. 2016 ; GO: 1 male ( ZUTC 6718 ), Chabahar Bay , Tis, associated with gobies, Coll. A. Sari and A. Dehghani, 2 Oct. 2016 .

Regional records. PG: Kuwait ( Jones 1986); Iran (present study); GO: Iran (present study).

Distribution. Indo-West Pacific: from Red Sea to Japan and Australia.

Habitat. The species is always associated with gobies ( Cryptocentrus spp. and Amblyeleotris spp.).

Remake. Jones (1986) recorded this species for the first time from the Persian Gulf. Banner & Banner (1981) listed A. djiboutensis De Man, 1909 , as a junior synonym of A. djeddensis , without providing any argument. But a year later, Banner & Banner (1982) reported A. djiboutensis De Man, 1909 , as a distinct species from A. djeddensis . The specimens collected from the GO match closely the Singapore specimen identified as A. djeddensis by Anker & De Grave (2016: fig. 8).
