Paracobitis molavii Freyhof View in CoL [J.], Esmaeili [H. R.], Sayyadzadeh [G.] & Geiger [M. F.] 2014: 25; Type locality: Sulaymaniyah Province, Zalm at Khurmal, 35°18.38'N, 45°58.26'E, Iraq. Holotype: ZFMK 56826. Paratypes: FSJF 3357 (6).
Common name: Pr: Loch-e tajdar-e Molavi, Sagmahi-e tajdar-e Molavi, En: Molavi crested loach.
Diagnosis: Distinguished from the other species of Paracobitis in Iran by rounded caudal fin.
Meristic characters: D: 7, A: 5, P: 8–9, V: 6–7, LL: almost complete, SC: just flank behind dorsal fin origin, DP: short and blunt, PA: present, SOG: absent.
Distribution: Tigris basin ( Fig. 345). Found in Little Zab, Leyleh and Sirvan Rivers.
Taxonomy.
Conservation: IUCN: Not Evaluated, PC: Data Deficient. This species is found in both Iran and Iraq but very little is known about its distribution range and population size, and thus we could not accurately assess its conservation status.
