Alburnus aeruleus Heckel [J. J.] 1843: 1084 [94]; Type locality: Aleppo, Syria. Syntypes: NMW 16688 (4), 55511–13 (2, 2, 2), 57161 (3);?RMNH 2656 [ex NMW] (4); SMF 100 [ex NMW] (4).

Common name: Pr: Morvarid mahi khal dar, En: Black spotted bleak.
Diagnosis: Deep and spirlin-like body shape, fewer scales along the lateral line, flanks (even lower flanks) and head heavily speckled.
Meristic characters: D: III 8–9 (8), A: III 13–18 (14–16), P: 12–15, V: 7–8, GR: 10–13, LL: 43–58, TV: 39–40.
Distribution: Tigris basin ( Fig. 222). Found in Dinevar, Gamasiab, Qarasu and Seymareh Rivers.
Taxonomy: According to Birecikligil et al. (2017) Alburnoides recepi Turan, Kaya, Ekmekçi and Doğan (2014) is a synonym.
Conservation: IUCN: Least Concern ( Freyhof and Kottelat 2008a).
