Barbus kersin Heckel View in CoL [J. J.] 1843: 1049 [59]; Type locality: Syria. Syntypes: NMW 54212–13 (1, 4), 54215 (1); SMF 610 [ex NMW in 1844] (1), ZMB 3237 [ex NMW] (1).
Common name: Pr: Dabe dogh, Berzom pahn, En: Kersin barbel.
Diagnosis: Body is wide and rhombic shape, moderately developed lips and two pairs of barbels.
Meristic characters: D: III–IV (IV) 7–8, A: III 5–6 (5), P: 16–18, V: 7–8 (8), GR: 19–20, LL: 49–58, TV: 43–45.
Distribution: Tigris basins ( Fig. 150). Found in Shadegan and Hor Al Azim Wetlands.
Taxonomy: Coad (1991) synonymises this species with Barbus (= Luciobarbus ) pectoralis but Turan et al. (2008) regard as valid and placed in Luciobarbus .
Conservation: IUCN: Data Deficient ( Freyhof 2014r).
