Luciobarbus esocinus Heckel View in CoL [J. J.] 1843: 1054 [64]; Type locality: Tigris River, Mosul, Iraq. Syntypes: NMW 54088 (2), 54091–92 (1, 1); SMF 454 [ex NMW] (1), 6785 [ex NMW] (1).
Labeobarbus euphrati Sauvage [H.-E.] 1882: 166; Type locality: Euphrates River at Biredjik [Birecik], Turkey. Holotype (unique): MNHN A–6971 [or A–6961].
Common name: Pr: Song, Anze, Narbaj, En: Mangar, Tigris barbel, Pike barbel.
Diagnosis: Long and large body size, depressed pike-like head, two set of barbels, a serrated dorsal fin spine, lateral line scale count high (63–78), moderately developed lips, and no large flank spots.
Meristic characters: D: IV 8, A: III 5, P: 16–18, V: 8, GR: 17–22, LL: 63–78, TV: 43–49.
Distribution: Tigris basin ( Fig. 148). Found in Karon, Seymareh, Sirvan and Dez Rivers.
Taxonomy.
