NOTES: G. Lister (1931: 298) wrote “ Hab. Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture; on fallen leaves of Magnolia obovata, Sep. 5,
1930”. In BM there are two boxes from the same place and date. One is marked “ A.2” and we designate this one as the lectotype as it is the best preserved collection. Another BM 4076 we consider to be a duplicate of the first and so an isolectotype. There is a third box from a later date but has the publication data on the label. There are notes in notebook XLV: 98–99, with comments and illustrations on the first two, and an original label with all the data but with the collection date as “ 4/Sept./1931 ” so it is probably not material used to describe the species, and so we leave it in question. There is a reference to this third sample with a comment that is was received from Dr. Hattori in a later letter dated 26, Nov. 1931, so she would have received it even later, by which time the publication would already be in press or published. There is one slide of the lectotype and one of the isolectotype. In TNS ( Hagiwara, 2005) there are two collections from the same place and date as the lectotype ( TNS – M R1890 , 1891 ) that may be duplicates of this .
