NOTES: Lister (1911: 252) pointed out that this variety was known from “Alresford, Hants. (BM 3137); Aldborough,

Yorks. (BM 3138); Portugal (BM 3139)”. In BM there are 3 collections (BM 3137, BM 3138, BM 3139) that are mentioned in the publication and so syntypes. Of these we designate BM 3138 as the lectotype as it is in the best condition, has notes and illustrations in the notebook XXI: 102–102 A and a slide preparation (1). The variety is currently considered to be a synonym of P. chrysosperma (Curr.) Lister, and Gulielma Lister herself lists it thus in the third edition of the monograph ( Lister 1925) .
