Derancistrus coeruleus Lameere 1912: 170 View in CoL .
Type. Holotype female, collected by Parzudazki in “Amérique Mérid.”, in 1846 and deposited in MNHN.
Redescription. 19–38 mm. Morphologically similar to D. anthracinus which differs by the color of femora and tibiae. Male: general coloration black or very dark brown, with metallic bluegreen reflections; femora and apical half of tibiae reddish. Integument mostly glabrous, densely and strongly punctate. Head with deep median groove. Antennae reaching or almost reaching midpoint of the elytra. Pronotum transversely depressed at the base, narrower than elytra, with two spines on each side, the mediolateral longer. Elytra densely punctate throughout, apical margin slightly denticulate with small epipleural and sutural teeth. Prosternal process notched at the apex, posterior margins evenly rounded and with a small anterior tubercle. Female: similar to male, but with antennae just reaching basal third of elytra.

Remarks. This rare species is endemic to the mountain areas of eastern Cuba: provinces of Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba.
