Generitype of Monsonia Linnaeus.

Current name: Monsonia speciosa L. View in CoL ( Geraniaceae ).

Note: Venter (in Meded. Landbouwhoogeschool 79-9: 106. 1979), followed by Albers (in Eggli, Ill. Handb. Succ. Pl., Dicots: 244. 2002), wrongly indicated a post-1767 Sparrman collection (936.3 LINN) as holotype. It is not original material for the name and was therefore rejected in favour of Gibby’s choice.
