Distribution: Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, N Argentina.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt) as Molossops abrasus .

Discussion: Called brachymeles by Cabrera (1958) and Freeman (1981), but see Carter and Dolan (1978).
