Diagnosis. Most similar in dorsal colouration to As. circumdata , distinguished by the bipartite LO in V7. The Goa specimens have 2 dark median pronotal spots and are tentatively included here. Rat District specimens have elytra pale brown with basal section darker brown and resemble As. humeralis comb. nov. Female macropterous; abdomen coloured as for female As. circumdata ; V8 posterior margin widely emarginated with posterolateral corners narrowly angulate; median oviduct plate elongate, longer than wide with anterior margin rounded and lateral ‘arms’ subtriangular in outline, being longer than high ( Figs 175−179 View FIGURES 175−179 ).
Remarks. Luciola aemula Olivier 1891 was based on a female taken in Myanmar (as ‘ Burma Monts Carin’). Specimens of As. ovalis were also taken at this site and the synonymy is based on the similarity of colour patterns and overlapping localities.
Adults of Asymmetricata ovalis are not as widely distributed as As. circumdata and in Thailand were found in natural habitats and only recorded from seven locations which are widely distributed throughout the Northern region. The elevation range of habitats are about 200 m. to above 1,200 m. A few adult males were collected during rainy season between May and early July (Nak-eiam 2015).
