Ortholexis Karsch 1895 View in CoL stat. rev. (= Loxolexis sensu Larsen 2005 , not Karsch 1895)
Karsch (1895) described the genus Ortholexis , with a single (type) species Ortholexis melichroptera Karsch , which is now considered a synonym of holocausta Mabille ( Evans 1937; Ackery et al. 1995). Evans (1937) treated Ortholexis as a synonym of Katreus Watson , and transferred holocausta to Katreus . When Larsen (2005) removed holocausta , dimidia Holland and hollandi Druce from Katreus , he accidentally re-established the genus Loxolexis , which is a synonym of Katreus (see below), rather than Ortholexis (T.B. Larsen pers. comm. 2010). To correct this, we re-establish Ortholexis , containing O. holocausta (Mabille) comb. nov., O. dimidia ( Holland) comb. nov. and O. hollandi Druce comb. rev. Warren et al. (2009) associate Ortholexis (as Loxolexis ) with Celaenorrhinini , as implied by Evans (1937) and Larsen (2005). There is a single rearing record by Vuattoux (1999) of O. hollandi from Strophanthus sarmentosus (Apocynaceae) , a poisonous West African vine.
