Katreus Watson 1893 View in CoL (= Loxolexis Karsch stat. rev.)
Warren et al. (2009) placed Katreus in Celaenorrhinini as it “appears to be closely related to Celaenorrhinus ”. Katreus was established for a single species, Astictopterus johnstonii Butler which was also designated the type species by Watson (1893). Karsch (1895) described the genus Loxolexis with a single species included, Loxolexis percnoptera Karsch , which is therefore the type species. However, percnoptera is a synonym of K. johnstonii , and so Loxolexis is a synonym of Katreus ( Evans 1937; Ackery et al. 1995). Evans (1937) transferred holocausta (and subspecies) and dimidia from Ortholexis to Katreus . Larsen (2005) separated these two species groups, but made a lapse when he reintroduced the genus Loxolexis rather than Ortholexis for the species removed from Katreus , including holocausta , the type species of Ortholexis . We have no information, nor have we found any published information, on the life history or food plants of K. johnstonii .
