Type species. Amblyseius (Ricoseius) loxocheles De Leon, 1965: 128 .

Main distinguishing characteristics. Whitish. Dorsal shield smooth. Idiosomal setal pattern 11A: 9B/JV-3:ZV (seta r5 present); dorsal shield setae of dissimilar lengths, most elongate and with minute knob. Sternal shield lightly sclerotised. Some specimens with ventral and anal shields separate; with pre-anal setae not transversely aligned. Peritreme extending to level of j3. Spermathecal calyx trumpet-shaped. Fixed cheliceral digit with 11–12 teeth and movable digit with 1–3 teeth. Macrosetae absent, but all legs with some dorsal setae distally capitate. Male ventrianal shield with three pairs of pre-anal setae arranged in a triangular pattern; spermadactyl penile.

Remarks. This is the only phytoseiid species in Brazil with r5 (in phytoseiids, the only other genera with this seta is Archeosetus Chant & McMurtry and Evansoseius Sheals ) and the only Amblyseiinae with most dorsal shield setae elongate and ending a minute knob. This is a monospecific genus, reported in Brazil several times. It has been reported from plants, associated with fungi.
