Distribution in Brazil. São Paulo ( Ehara, 1966a; Flechtmann, 1967 c, 1968).

Distribution elsewhere. Angola, Argentina, Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, India, Jamaica, Madeira, Mexico, Puerto Rico and USA.

Remarks. Given the great similarity between E. hibisci and other species of the genus, the reports of this species in Brazil could refer to misidentifications. It seems most probable that those records refer to E. concordis , one of the closest species, very commonly found in South America ( Lopes et al., 2015). Given the uncertain identification, E. hibisci was not included in the key later provided in this publication.
