( Figs 1–6 View FIGURES 1 – 6 )
Holotype. Ƥ, China, Hainan Prov., 26.VII.1984, Hua Lizhong, No. 870230 ( ZJUH).
Description. Female. Mesosoma and metasoma length combined 11.2 mm; fore wing length 7.3 mm.
Head. Anterior half of head missing. Occipital carina dorsally complete and distinctly curved medially, not fused below with hypostomal carina.
Mesosoma. Mesosoma weakly depressed, its dorsal side almost flat. Length 2.7 times its height. Sides of pronotum rugulose-punctate at most part. Posterior half of pronotum with weakly convex lob dorsally and with distinct pronotal keel, which is situated close to mesoscutum, but not fused with it medially. Mesoscutum entirely densely punctate-granulate. Median lobe of mesoscutum weakly roundly convex, with a shallow and wide median longitudinal furrow. Notauli deep anteriorly, shallow posteriorly, crenulate. Prescutellar depression rather deep, with a distinct median carina, 0.4 times as long as scutellum. Scutellum finely granulate. Metanotum without median tooth. Mesopleuron punctate, but small median part smooth. Subalar depression shallow, rather wide, rugose. Precoxal sulcus distinct, shallow, rather wide and crenulate, connected with prepectal carina anteriorly, running ventrally along entire length of mesopleuron, weakly curved in posterior half. Propodeum coarsely rugose-areolate, with an almost complete median carina. Propodeum without lateral tubercles. Mesoscutum entirely shortly and densely setose. Mesopleuron almost entirely densely setose, glabrous at median area.
Wings. Fore wing 4.6 times as long as maximum width. Pterostigma 4.5 times as long as wide. Vein r arising almost from middle of pterostigma. 1-R1 1.5 times as long as pterostigma. 3-SR: r: SR1: 2-SR= 45: 13: 93: 34. Second submarginal cell long, 2.8 times as long as maximum width, 0.8 times as long as first subdiscal cell. 1- SR+M weakly sinuate. m-cu vein almost interstitial. Hind wing with 4 hamuli. M+CU 0.2 times as long as 1-M vein. Vein m-cu straight, short, pigmented, almost interstitial.
Legs. Fore tarsus very long and slender, 2.4 times as long as fore tibia. Hind coxa striate-rugose dorsally, almost smooth laterally. Baso-ventrally hind coxa angled and with a small tubercle. Hind femur 3.9 times as long as maximum width. Hind tarsus slender, 1.1 times as long as hind tibia. Hind basitarsus 0.7 times as long as secondfifth segments combined; second tarsal segment 0.6 times as long as basitarsus, 2.5 times as long as fifth segment (except pretarsus).
Metasoma. First tergite with distinct dorsope, with small spiracular tubercles in basal quarter, almost linearly widened from base to apex. First tergite densely areolate. Maximum width of first tergite 1.9 times its minimum width; length 3.6 times its maximum width, about 2.7 times length of propodeum. Second tergite 1.7 times as long as its basal width, 2.1 times as long as third tergite. Basal area of second tergite 0.6 times as long as its basal width. Suture between second and third tergites shallow, narrow, curved laterally towards base of tergite. Second tergite entirely, third tergite largely (except smooth apical part) with very dense reticulation; medio-basal half of fourth tergite with dense and very fine sculpture; remaining tergites smooth. Hypopygium obtuse apically. Ovipositor sheath 1.5 times as long as mesosoma and metasoma combined, 1.5 times as long as fore wing.
Colour. Head red. Mesosoma and metasoma black. Fore and mid coxae yellow, hind coxa almost black; all trochanters yellow; all femora almost black, pale basally and apically; all tibiae almost brownish yellow, pale basally; all tarsi almost brownish yellow. Wings faintly infuscate. Pterostigma dark brown.
Male. Unknown.
Diagnosis. This is the unique species of the subgenus Sinohalycaea subgen. nov. H. (S.) longitergum sp. nov.; it distinctly differs from the all know species of nominative subgenus Halycaea s. str. by the subgeneric characters indicated in the key.
Distribution. China (Hainan).
Etymology. From Latin “longus” meaning “long”, and “tergum” meaning “tergite”.
