TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., Buryat A.S.S. R., Selenga River .

DISTRIBUTION: E. Kazakhstan, S. Siberia, Transbaikalia ( U.S. S. R.), N. Mongolia, Heilungkiang and Sinkiang ( China).

COMMENT: Subgenus Urocitellus ; see Gromov et al., 1965: 162. Hall, 1981:381, included Urocitellus in subgenus Spermophilus . Formerly included parryii ; see Hall and Kelson, 1959:343; but also see Nadler et al., 1974, Comp. Biochem. Physiol., 47A:663- 681.
