Theodor, 1953; 1 ♂, syntype (terminalia on a slide in the same Box) ( MZUF: Box 66): N. vexata ♂ Westw. Syn. N. ercolanii Rond. det. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Nycteribia vexata Westwood, 1835 ( Hurka & Soós 1986: 229, Pape et al. 1995: 8).

REMARKS: Rondani (1879: 7) described both sexes of Nycteribia ercolanii without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of length received from G.B. Ercolani. We found 16 syntypes in this study.
