Spixosoma aureifasciata Rondani, 1857 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 224 (key), 225 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis Parmensis [Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 8): Sphixosoma [sic!] Rndn. / aureifasciata Rndn. / 383 / Lectotypus Sphixosoma [sic!] aureifasciatus Rondani, 1867 , ♂, L. Rivosecchi & M. Mei des. 1998 / Abrachiglossum capitatum (Loew, 1847) ♂, L. Rivosecchi & M. Mei det. 1998.
CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Conops (Conops) Linnaeus, 1758 View in CoL ( Chvála & Smith 1988: 252); junior synonym of Abrachiglossum capitatum (Loew, 1847) ( Rivosecchi & Mei 1998: 272, Stuke 2017: 2).
REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 225) described Sphixosoma aureifasciata from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Mas speciei semel a me captus [the male of this species collected by me once]”. Rivosecchi & Mei (1998: 272) designated a lectotype (♂). This nominal species was described under the generic name Spixosoma , which is an “unjustified emendation of Sphyxosoma Rondani, 1856 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 170).
