Plinthomyia emimelania Rondani, 1875 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875c: 428.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula Bonae Fortunae (Borneo) , Provincia Sarawak [ Bona Fortuna Island , Sarawak Province, Borneo]” ( Rondani 1875c: 421) .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MSNG): Borneo, Sarawak, 1865/1866, Coll. Doria / Typus / Plinthomyia emimelania Rond. / Plinthomyia emimelania n° 17.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Phumosia emimelania ( James 1977: 537) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1875c: 428) described Plinthomyia emimelania without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, from material collected by G. Doria and O. Beccari. Guiglia (1957: 196) and Raineri & Rey (1996: 33) reported the holotype (♀) in the MSNG. Rye (1877: 475) emended the name to “ hemimelania ”. O’Hara et al. (2011: 148) considered hemimelania as an “unjustified emendation”.
