ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868a: 51.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia superiori et media [north and central Italy]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 7 ♂♂, 4 ♀♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 20): Somomyia Rnd. / juvenis Rnd. / 1089 .

CURRENT STATUS: nomen dubium View in CoL in Lucilia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ( Schumann 1986: 28) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 51) described both sexes of Somomyia juvenis , from an unspecified number of specimens. Eleven syntypes were found in this study. An additional MZUF male numbered “1089” from “ Malta ”, is not included in the type series because it is not from the type locality. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Somomyia , which is “an unjustified emendation of Somomya Bertoloni, 1861 ” (O’Hara et. al. 2011: 166).
