ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 90.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, only thorax, part of abdomen and some legs remain) ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extra-europea, Fam. Tipulidae - Gen. Sciara a Culex ): Psicoda pulla Rnd. , Chili [= Chile] / M. Zool. N° 10882.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Psychodidae ( Duckhouse 1973: 16) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 90) described Psicoda pulla , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, from material received from R.A. Philippi. Costa (1866: 40) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “944”. We also found one syntype in this study. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Psicoda , which is an “unjustified emendation of Psychoda Latreille, 1797 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 153).
