Neriidae View in CoL View at ENA
This family of tropical acalyptrate flies contains just over 100 species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1848 b, 1863) described one from South America and one without any indication of the type locality. The former is considered as a doubtful species (A. Pereira Colavite, pers. comm., February 2013) the latter as a valid species ( Steyskal 1968b). The type material of the species with no locality has presumably been lost; the South American type material is in the MZUN.
