TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia boreali … in Apennino parmensi … in Pedemontio … in Insubria subalpina [northern Italy … Parmese Apennines … Piedmont … subalpine Insubria (= Lombardy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Platystoma seminationis ( Fabricius, 1775) ( Soós 1984b: 43, Belcari et al. 1995b: 7).

REMARKS: Rondani (1869a: 36) described Megaglossa vegetationis , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, from material he had collected and also received from L. Bellardi, A. Garbiglietti and C. Tacchetti. Árpád Soós examined the type material in the MZUF in 1978 adding the label “ lectotypus ” and “ paralectotypus ” under the specimens, but did not publish the designation (V.A. Korneyev, pers. comm., February 2013). We found ten syntypes in this study: six in the MZUF and four in the MRSN. In order to promote nomenclatural stability, we give credit to Á. Soós and here designate as a lectotype for Megaglossa vegetationis Rondani, 1869 the male labeled as such by him.
