Dasiphora affricana Rondani, 1863 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 31.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Cap. B. Spei [Cape of Good Hope ( South Africa)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, unplaced to genus in Muscidae ( Pont 1980a: 731) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 31) described Dasiphora affricana from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from M. Spinola. Costa (1866: 33) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “706” which we did not locate in this study. This nominal species was described under the generic name Dasiphora , which is an “unjustified emendation of Dasyphora Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 71).
