ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 77 (key), 79 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Hydrotaea tuberculata View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 82, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 11).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 79) described Hydrotea tuberculata from a single male: “ Marem unicum possideo, dono … Garbiglietti [I have one male only, a gift by Garbiglietti]”. We could not locate any type specimen from “Pedemontio” [= Piedmont] during this study. The MZUF contains three (non-type) specimens: a male from “ Tirol ” [= Tyrol] and two females. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Hydrotea ”, which we consider an incorrect subsequent spelling of Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 .
