ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1871a: 323.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in nemore Apennini parmensis [ Parmese Apennine woods ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUF: Box 25): Spilogaster Mcqrt / nemorana Rnd. , ♀, Apenn. [= Apennines] / 1324 .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Mydaea humeralis ( Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 156, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 14).

REMARKS: Rondani (1871a: 323) described Spilogaster nemorana from just the female sex without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Foeminam tantum legi [I collected the female only]”. He later ( Rondani 1877c: 82) indicated a single female.
