ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1850c: 190.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Venezuela ” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, abdomen very dirty) ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extraeuropea, Fam. Stratiomidei - Gen. Clitellaria a Sternobrithes ): Chrysochlora maculiventris Rnd. , Venezuela / M. Zool. N° 10982.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Chrysochlorina maculiventris View in CoL ( James 1973: 35, Woodley 2001: 176).

REMARKS: Rondani (1850c: 190) described Chrysochlora maculiventris from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from E. Truqui. Costa (1866: 35) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “868”. We also found one syntype in this study.
