REMARKS: Rondani (1868c: 211) described both sexes of Elgiva lateritia without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Foemina tantum lecta … in collibus Parmensibus, et marem ab eq. Garbiglietti obtinuit [sic!] in agro neapolitano lectum , in Campania prope Soram. In Pedemontio etiam lecta … a Bellardi [Only the female collected … on Parmese hills, and I obtained the male collected in Neapolitan territory, in Campania near Sora by Mr. Garbiglietti … Also collected in Piedmont by Bellardi]”. Verbeke (1964b: 22) reported two males (we found just one) and one female in the MZUF, and considered one of the two males as the “type”. He unambiguously identified the type (the male specimen labeled as such), which therefore must be considered as the lectotype (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 74.5). Elgiva lateritia and Elgiva truquii Rondani, 1863 (Box 28) are both numbered “1495”.
