Hilarella zetterstedtii Rondani, 1856 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 70.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Scania [ Sweden]” ( Zetterstedt 1844: 1213) [type locality for Miltogramma hilarella Zetterstedt, 1844 ].
TYPE MATERIAL: see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Hilarella hilarella ( Zetterstedt, 1844) View in CoL ( Verves 1986: 94, Pape 1988: 16); junior synonym of Taxigramma hilarella ( Zetterstedt, 1844) ( Pape 1996: 153) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1856: 70) proposed Hilarella as a new genus and identified Miltogramma hilarella Zetterstedt, 1844 as the type species. Having used the species epithet for the new nominal genus and thinking that the name Hilarella hilarella was incorrect, Rondani incorrectly substituted it with Hilarella zetterstedtii . Bezzi & Stein (1907: 514), Rohdendorf (1935: 115), Verves (1986: 94) and Pape (1988: 16, 1996: 153) placed Hilarella zetterstedtii Rondani, 1856 in synonymy with Miltogramma hilarella , while Schiner (1861b: 504, 1864: 90) and Brauer & Bergenstamm (1889: 114) considered it as a valid species. The type material for Hilarella zetterstedtii will be the same as for the name it was proposed to replace, i. e., Miltogramma hilarella . Townsend (1931: 374) designated a lectotype for Miltogramma hilarella in the MZLU. O’Hara et al. (2011) considered the name Hilarella zetterstedtii as an “unnecessary new replacement name” (p. 96) and (incorrectly) as an “unavailable name” (p. 215).
