TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 14): Macronychia Rnd. / sylvestris Rnd. / 731 / lectotype ♂ Macronychia sylvestris Rnd. , ♂, T. Pape det. , 1986 / Macronychia polyodon (Mg.) , T. Pape det., 1986.

PARALECTOTYPE EXAMINED: 1 ♂ ( MZUF: Box 14): Macronychia Rnd. sylvestris Rnd. / 731 / paralectotype.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Macronychia polyodon ( Meigen, 1824) View in CoL ( Verves 1986: 60, Pape 1988: 16, 1996: 96; Verves & Khrokalo 2006: 233).

REMARKS: Rondani (1865c: 218) described Macronychia sylvestris from just the male sex without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. Pape (1988: 16) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotype (♂).
