Exorista glirina Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 117 (key), 129 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing fore-legs) ( MZUF: Box 13): Exorista Mgn / glirina Rnd. , ♂ [sic!] / 625 .
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Phebellia glirina ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 185, Pape et al. 1995: 19, Cerretti 2010: 184, O’Hara et al. 2020: 343).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 129) described Exorista glirina from a single female: “ Numquam mares, et foeminam unicam legi [I never collected males, I collected a single female]”. Herting (1969: 195) reported a single female in the MZUF but he did not consider it as a type because of its poor condition and not determinable. Herting incorrectly designated a NHMW male sent to Bergenstamm by Rondani as the lectotype. The MZUF specimen numbered “625” is a female, not a male as labeled.
