ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 14 (key), 16 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ In Etruria [ Etruria (= Tuscany, Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing head, fore-, and left mid-legs; one missing right wing and right midleg), 1 ♂, syntype, 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, completely covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 9): Triptocera [sic!] Mcqrt / antennalis Rnd. / 438; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box E): Triptocera [sic!] Mq. antennalis R., 156, Apr. / 393 156.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Actia infantula ( Zetterstedt, 1844) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 329, Andersen 1996: 64).

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 16) described Thryptocera antennalis , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being five specimens in the type series found in this study, from material that he collected and that he had also received from F.M. Piccioli. We consider the five specimens as syntypes.
