ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 99 (key), 102 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing left fore- and right mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 16): Phoricheta Rnd. / plorans Rnd. / 841.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Ramonda plorans ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 378, Pape et al. 1995: 29); valid species, as Periscepsia plorans ( Cerretti 2010: 457) , valid species as Periscepsia (Ramonda) plorans ( O’Hara et al. 2020: 159) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 102) described Phoricheta plorans from a single specimen without specifying its sex: “ Unicum exemplar speciei … legi [I collected a single specimen of the species]”. Herting (1969: 199) reported a single female in the MZUF.
