CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ernestia argentifera ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 294) , junior synonym of Panzeria argentifera ( Meigen, 1824) ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 77) described Platychira latifrons from both sexes: “ bis marem, ter foeminam … inveni [I found the male twice, the female three times]”. We found five syntypes in this study.
