ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 166 (key), 169 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 11): Ptilops Rnd. / vidua Rnd. , ♀ / 547.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Macquartia pubiceps ( Zetterstedt, 1845) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 314) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 169) described Ptilops vidua from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Foeminam tantum legi [I collected the female only]”. We found one syntype in this study.
