ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 64 (key), 66 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agri parmensis collibus et planitie … Foeminam ab Insubria [Parmese hills and plains … the female from Insubria (= Lombardy) ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing fore-, mid- and right hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 15): Pyrrosia Rnd. / diaphana Rnd. , ♂ / 799; 3 ♀♀, syntypes (one missing right fore- and mid-legs; one missing left mid-leg; one missing right fore- and left hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 15): Pyrrosia Rnd. / diaphana Rnd. , ♀ / 799; 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box D): Pyrrosia R. diaphana R., 300, ♂, Parma / 393 300; 1 ♀, syntype (missing head and both forelegs) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Pyrrosia diaphana R. 120 ♀ Parma / Coll. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Solieria pacifica ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 344) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 66) described both sexes of Pyrrosia diaphana without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths from material he had collected and also received from G. Cristoforis. We found seven syntypes in this study.
