TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie et collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese plains and hills ( Italy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lecanipa leucomelas ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 158, O’Hara et al. 2020: 236).

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 158) described both sexes of Lecanipa patellifera without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but had more than one specimen because he wrote: “ non rara praesertim mensibus Majo et Junio [not rare above all in May and July]”. We found six syntypes in this study.
