ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1869a: 30 (key), 31 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie parmensi … in Pedemontio [ Parmese plains … Piedmont ( Italy)]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (partially eaten by dermestids, missing fore- and left hind-legs) (MZUF: Box 31): Ortalis Fall. / immaculata Rndn. , Parma / 1618 / Lectotypus ♂, Ortalis immaculata Rnd. , design. Á. Soós, 1978 / Otites immaculata Rond. , ♂, det. Á. Soós, 1978.
PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (partially eaten by dermestids, terminalia on a slide) (MZUF: Box 31): Ortalis Fall. / immaculata Rndn. , Parma / 1618 / Paralectotypus ♂, Ortalis immaculata Rnd. , design. PARALECTOTYPES NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (MRSN): 16 67 / 43 / Ortalis Fall. immaculata Rond., Bra [= Bra (Piedmont)], ♂; 1 ♀ (MRSN): 42 / Ortalis Fall. immaculata Rond., Bra [= Bra (Piedmont)].

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Otites immaculata ( Soós 1984c: 48, Belcari et al. 1995b: 6).
REMARKS: Rondani (1869a: 31) described Ortalis immaculata without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens he had collected and also received from L. Bellardi. Soós (1982a: 135) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (1 ♂, 1 ♀) but did not mention an additional two specimens in the MRSN (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes).
