Celtis bifida Leroy (1948: 7) View in CoL .
Type: — AFRICA. Madagascar, without date, fl., Grève 212 (lectotype, designated here, P barcode 00541224!; isolectotypes P barcode 00541222!, P barcode 00541223!, P barcode 02436212!) .
Syntypes: —AFRICA. “Vallée du Fiheranana, sur calcaires éocènes S-W”, 1932, fl., J.M.H.A. Perrier de la Bâthie 16652 (syntypes K barcode 000243043!, P barcode 00562179!, P barcode 00562180!, P barcode 00562181!).
Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. bifida, Leroy (1948) cited the syntypes J.M.H.A.Perrier de la Bâthie 16652 and Grevé 212 without specifying the herbarium in which they were conserved. Sattarian et al. (2006) designated the Grevé 212 sample in P as a “ holotype ”. This designation cannot be recognized as a holotype, as Leroy (1948) did not specify the type and cited material from more than one gathering. The proposal by Sattarian et al. (2006) also cannot be considered as effective lectotypification (ICN Art. 7.11). We designate the specimen at Herb. P with barcode 00541224 as the lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), because in comparison with the other specimens, this specimen has the highest number of perfect flowers with bifid stigmatic lobes, which is the main feature used by Leroy (1948) to characterize the species.
Taxonomic notes: —Accepted species ( Sattarian et al. 2006).
