Neotype (de Winter in Bothalia 11: 264. 1974): Herb. Linn. No. 854.17 (LINN).

Generitype of Mahernia Linnaeus.

Current name: Hermannia pinnata L. ( Sterculiaceae ).

Note: Winter wrongly referred to the LINN sheet as the holotype but as it is annotated only by Linnaeus filius, and there is no original material for the name, this is treated as a correctable error under Art. 9.8, and accepted as a neotype. Jarvis & al. ( Regnum Veg. 127: 63. 1993) wrongly gave the sheet number as “634.17”.
