TYPE LOCALITY: Canada, Ontario, settlement at mouth of Severn River (now Fort Severn), Hudson Bay .
DISTRIBUTION: W.C. Yukon and S. W. Northwest Terr, to S. Quebec, Nova Scotia, and S. New Brunswick ( Canada); N. North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin ( U.S.A.).
COMMENT: Palearctic species currently referred to arcticus ( Gromov and Baranova, 1981: 18) have been referred to tundrensis by Junge et al., 1981, Abst. Tech. Pap., 61 st Ann. Meet., Am. Soc. Mamm., No. 45; see also Sokolov and Orlov, 1980:47, Junge and Hoffmann, 1981:42.
