8. P. tricolor View in CoL group

Species: P. intensivus , P. siamensis , P. tricolor

Characteristics: (1) Upper frons, vertex and median occipital sclerite black; (2) Scutum with 3 broad longitudinal black stripes; (3) wings distinctly infumated; (4) vein R2+3 shorter than or as long as Rs and radial triangle (r2+3) low (barely higher than half length of crossvein R-M) and opened or closed at costal margin, crossvein M-Cu developed ( Figs 48–49 View FIGURES 42 – 49. 42 – 43 ); (5) M3 distinctly sinuate, postcubitus (CuP) strong and pigmented; (6) male epandrium much longer than broad, proctiger and cerci small, short and ventrally oriented surstylus in P. siamensis , genital capsule suboblong, with rounded inner posterior projection in P. tricolor , gonostylus with inner pointed lobe near base, aedeagal complex long and tube-like with flat basal part (aedeagal apodeme).

Remarks: This species group is apparently closely related to the cingulatus group showing the same type of the wing venation and similar plesiotypic shape of the male terminalia. Externally the tricolor group differs by the longitudinally striped scutum and the distinctly infuscated wings. The abdomen is red on tergites 2–4 in P. tricolor , extensively darkened in P. siamensis and transversely banded in P. intensivus .
