Bombus flavidus View in CoL is a boreo-alpine species, distributed in the north of the Eurasian continent, Scandinavia and Siberia, where the nominal subspecies spreads. It is the social parasite of B. jonellus View in CoL , but in the Pyrenees it shows preference for B. pyrenaeus View in CoL and secondarily by B. monticola View in CoL ( Løken 1984, Rasmont 1988). There is a double threat to B. flavidus View in CoL since the two main host species have small and declining populations ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ).

It was assessed as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List of European Bees (Rasmont et al. 2015) and as Endangered (EN) in the IUCN Spanish Red List (Ornosa & Torres 2009), where it is locally less abundant ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ). In the Pyrenean fauna, it is represented by a unique subspecies:
