Previously recorded from Costa Rica (Guanacaste, Puntarenas, and San José provinces), Panama, and Colombia ( Esaki 1926b; Hungerford 1937, 1939; Kuitert 1942; Wheelwright & Wilkinson 1985; Manzano et al. 1995; Polhemus & Polhemus 1995; Molano et al. 2008; Posso & González 2008). It is herein reported for the first time from Alajuela, Heredia, and Limón provinces. As are other species of Potamobates , P. tridentatus is found on the riffle areas of lotic habitats along the Atlantic and Pacific slopes of Costa Rica, up to 700 m a.s.l.
