Epyris lindigi Kieffer 1910b: 31 (key), 32–33 (♂ and ♀ descriptions); Gordh & Móczár 1990: 71 (catalog).
Epyris montivagus: Evans 1964: 108 (synonym designation); Evans 1969: 324 –325 (♂ and ♀ redescription).
lindigi [lapsus calami]: Evans 1969: 326 (comparison).
Epyris bogotensis Kieffer 1910b: 31 (key), 34 (♀ description); Gordh & Móczár 1990: 77 (catalog). Syn. nov.
Material examined. Lectotype of Epyris lindigi Kieffer , designated here, ♂: COLOMBIA: Bogota, Lindig col. ( ZMBH, # 192 ). Paralectotype, ♂: COLOMBIA: Bogota, Lindig col. ( ZMBH, # 194 ). Holotype ♀ of Epyris bogotensis : [ COLOMBIA], Bogota, Lindig S. col., 20780 ( ZMHB, # 148 ) . New material: BRAZIL, 1 ♀, Ro[ndônia], Fazenda Rancho Grande, 62 km S. Ariquemes, 10°18’S 62°53’W, 8–20.IV.1997 M[alaise] T[rap], A.C.Rehn & C.Alexander col. ( UCDC).
Diagnosis. MALE ( Fig. 85 View FIGURES 85 – 96. 85 – 88 ). Black. Mandible with five apical teeth ( Fig. 86 View FIGURES 85 – 96. 85 – 88 ). Clypeus with angulate median lobe. Antennal scrobe almost wholly carinate. Frons almost polished. Vertex convex. Pronotal disc not carinate, anterior corner angulate, posterior margin paralleled by series of punctures; side of disc with ventral margin elevated. Scutellar pit transverse. Mesopleuron with upper fovea rounded. Genitalia ( Figs 87, 88 View FIGURES 85 – 96. 85 – 88 ): paramere slender, as long as basiparamere, apex rounded, dorsal and ventral margins narrow basally and progressively widened apicad; cuspis divided into two arms, about as long as half length of paramere, dorsal arm shorter and wider than ventral arm; aedeagus bottle-shaped, apical half progressively narrow apically, ventral surface with conspicuous projection ventrad; basal half of apodeme very dilated.
FEMALE ( Fig. 89 View FIGURES 85 – 96. 85 – 88 ). Black. Mandible with five apical teeth ( Fig. 90 View FIGURES 85 – 96. 85 – 88 ). Clypeus with subangulate median lobe. Antennal scrobe not carinate. Frons weakly coriaceous. Vertex convex. Temple slightly diverging anterad. Pronotal disc not carinate, anterior corner rounded, posterior margin paralleled by series of punctures; side of disc with ventral margin elevated. Scutellar pits transverse. Mesopleuron with subtegular groove wide; anterior fovea subrounded opened posteriorly; upper fovea elliptical; lower fovea with upper margin absent ( Fig. 91 View FIGURES 85 – 96. 85 – 88 ).
Distribution. Colombia. * Brazil (Rondônia).
Remarks. It was not possible to see if the notaulus is complete anteriorly since the type is pinned from mesoscutum and pronotal disc. Both syntypes are males rather than a couple as stated by Kieffer (1910b). There is no evidence that Kieffer (1910b) have designated holotype or subsequent authors have designated lectotype. So I decided to make lectotype designation although there is an institutional type label on one specimen.
