Redescription. Colour. Black, with blue reflections. Frontal vitta and upper half of fronto-orbital plate black, lower half of fronto-orbital plate, face, parafacial, gena and postpedicel black with grey pruinosity; pedicel, lower half of arista and palpus yellow. Mesonotum metallic black with a slight blue reflection and with one silver dusted central vitta in front of acrostichals; legs brown; haltere yellowish-white; upper calypter whitish, on outer half white and opaque, lower calypter brownish. Wing without dark markings. Abdomen without pruinosity.

Male. Body length: 4.0–6.0 mm; wing length: 4.0–6.0 mm.

Head. Eyes bare, separated at level of anterior ocellus by 0.13–0.15 of head width; frons divergent towards lunule; ocellar triangle with few setulae; 14 pairs of weak frontal setae; postpedicel 2.1–2.2 times the length of pedicel; pedicel with 2 setae; arista plumose, with 16–19 cilia, bare apicad, and with some secondary plumes as far as level of 1st to 2nd cilia; vibrissa shorter than arista; 1 strong supravibrissal seta, less than half the length of vibrissa, and few setulae that extend to level of middle of postpedicel; 4 subvibrissal setae followed by 8–9 genal setae. Palpus expanded at apex.

Thorax. Acrostichals 0+1; dorsocentrals 0+2; intra-alars 1+1; presutural 1; prealars 2, strong; supra-alar 1; postpronotals 3; notopleuron with 2 long subequal setae and covered with ground-setulae; postalars 2; intrapostalar 1; scutellum with 1 basal, 1 latero-discal and 1 apical pairs of setae, and latero-ventrally with many setae, the basalmost ones downcurved; postalar wall bare; suprasquamal ridge with short pile; proepisternal depression bare; proepimeron with about 3 long setae and a few setulae; prosternum broad and setulose; anepisternum with a posterior row of about 7 setae, without upcurved setae on upper-anterior corner, and covered with short setulae; katepisternals 1+2, anepimeron setulose on posterior half; katepimeron with 1 or 2 setulae; anatergite bare; katatergite setulose. Legs: fore femur with a posterodorsal row of setae, and a complete posteroventral row of setae; fore tibia with a dorsal row of short and strong setae, many setulae on apical half on ventral surface, 1 posterodorsal and 1 posteroventral preapical setae, and anterior surface with a brush-like ctenidium of golden setulae; fore tarsus without modifications in shape or bristling; mid femur with a tubercle at apex of anterodorsal to dorsal surfaces bearing about 3 agglutinated short spines that continue as some 3 dorsal to posterodorsal setae and with 3 oblique setae on dorsal to posterodorsal surfaces, a row of ventral setulae on basal two-thirds, and 1 posterior preapical seta; mid tibia with an anterodorsal comb-like ctenidium of short setulae on basal half and fine setae on apical half, a row of very short and strong setulae, 1 strong posterior seta and 2 strong posteroventral setae on mid third, 1 dorsal and 1 posterodorsal preapical setae and 1 anteroventral, 2 anterior, 1 ventral and 1 posteroventral apical setae; hind femur with an anteroventral row of setae on apical half, an anterodorsal row of setae, 3 dorsal to posterodorsal preapical setae, and a few posteroventral setulae on apical fourth; hind tibia with 8 long anteroventral setae on apical two-thirds, 2 anterodorsal setae on middle third, a dorsal row of short but strong setulae, 1 posterior seta on basal third, 1 on apical third, many long setae on middle third, 1 anterodorsal and 1 dorsal preapical setae, 1 anteroventral, 1 ventral and 2 posteroventral apical setae, a posterior brush-like ctenidium on apical half; hind tarsus with strong setae ventrally. Wing with a uniform covering of microtrichia; dm-cu straight; stem-vein bare before, and with 3 short setulae after, humeral cross-vein on dorsal surface, and ventrally with about 2 short setulae before humeral cross-vein and bare after it; R2+3 bare on dorsal and ventral surfaces; R4+5 bare on dorsal and ventral surfaces; 3 strong setae on basicosta.

Abdomen. With a lateral tuft of setulae on syntergite 1+2; tergite 5 with setae on disc and apically; sternite 1 setulose; posterior margin of sternite 5 concave and with many setae on membrane.

Terminalia (figs 1–4 in Pamplona 1986b). Inner middle third of cercal plate convex; cercal plate ventrally with some short spines; surstylus with some setulae apically; aedeagus with spicules on anterior membrane of distiphallus; gonopod with 3 long and strong setae; paramere with many setulae apically and few on middle third.
