Notes.
Bredia dulanica was described based on specimens collected from Mt. Dulan, southeastern Taiwan ( Yeh et al. 2008). Yeh et al. (2008) suggested that it is closely related to B. hirsuta , a species found in Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands, but can be distinguished by the rod-shaped ventral appendages and the calyx lobes with red strigose hairs abaxially. However, the accession from Mt. Dulan (LY 565) is deeply nested within B. hirsuta in the species tree based on single-copy orthologs (Fig. 1 View Figure 1 ). A comparison of living plants of B. dulanica and B. hirsuta from Taiwan and Okinawa revealed no obvious difference in stamen morphology and hairiness (Fig. 7 View Figure 7 ). Based on the above findings, we consider B. dulanica to be a synonym of B. hirsuta .
